Welcome to Wolfsburg

Did you know that Wolfsburg was initially designed as a place of residence for the employees of the Volkswagen plant? The relatively young city was established in 1938 as the location for the Volkswagen plant and, with around 125,000 inhabitants, is the fifth-largest city in Lower Saxony. The name of Wolfsburg is closely linked with VW. Volkswagen AG is the largest employer and accordingly plays a major role in the region. The so-called "Autostadt", a theme park dedicated to the subject of the automobile, is not just a museum and leisure park but also a delivery centre for new cars. VW offers exciting collection packages, which make purchasing a car a real experience. In spite of this, however, Wolfsburg also has places of historical interest. The castle and its surrounding buildings indicate that the city has a great deal more to offer than simply industry. One of Germany's greenest and healthiest cities offers a wealth of leisure facilities. Wolfsburg also lives up to its name in other respects, as a dynamic business centre, as a leisure and experience city, as a green recreational area and a sporting centre. Every year Wolfsburg attracts around 8 million visitors wishing to explore this modern city in Lower Saxony.
